Struktur Umum Tubuh Tumbuhan Tinggi Dan Bagian - Bagian Pokoknya - Tubuh Tumbuhan tinggi tersusun atas berjuta sel dengan ukuran, bentuk dan struktur yang berbeda, selanjutnya sel ini dianggap sebagai unit penyusun tubuh terkecil. 

Sejumlah sel dengan fungsi yang sama akan menyusun jaringan, dan beberapa jaringan akan menyusun organ atau bagian tubuh tumbuhan. Secara umum tubuh tumbuhan tinggi terdiri atas " sumbu silindris" dengan tonjolan lateral yang sering kali mempunyai struktur serupa dengan sumbu pusat.

Sumbu Utama sebenarnya tersusun atas dua bagian yang berbeda sifat fisiologis dan struktur morfologisnya. Bagian sumbu diatas tanah biasanya disebut batang dan bagian tanah disebut akar.

Tiga macam tonjolan yang tumbuh pada sumbu utama yaitu: daun, jonjot dan bulu. Daun tumbuh pada permukaan sumbu utama dengan pola tertentu atau teratur, sedangkan jonjot dan bulu tidak mempunyai pola tertentu atau tidak teratur.

a). Sumbu Utama
Apabila diamati dengan teliti, sumbu utama ini tersusun atas lingkaran pusat dan semacam lapisan pembungkus. Lebih lanjut dapat diketahui bahwa lingkaran pusat yang berfungsi sebagai sel penyalur zat makanan dan penguat yang terdiri atas jaringan pembuluh dan jaringan yang tersusun atas sel - sel penguat dan penyalur.

Dalam pembahasan selanjutnya lingkaran pusat ini disebut "Stele" atau silinder pusat. Sedangkan lapisan pembungkus yang berfungsi sebagai pelindung, penunjang dan penyimpan makanan disebut "kortek" dengan lapisan luar adalah epidermis.

b). Stele 
Secara umum stele tersusun atas dua macam jaringan pembuluh, yaitu : Xylem dan floem. Xylem berfungsi mengalirkan air dan zat makanan dari tanah ke bagian atas, dan floem berfungsi menyalurkan hasil fotosintesa dari daun ke seluruh tubuh tumbuhan Ke dua macam jaringan ini hampir selalu terdapat bersama, biasanya berdampingan secara radial dimana floem disebelah luar dari Xylem.

Bagian tengah setele merupakan jaringan yang longgar yang disebut empulur. Sedangkan bagian terluarnya yang merupakan sel bukan penyalur disebut lingkaran tepi. Bagian luar lingkaran tepi ini berbatasan dengan endodermis.
