Kaya serat
Kentang merupakan adalah salah satu makanan yang memiliki dan kaya akan serat, sehingga sering disarankan bagi orang-orang yang memiliki  badan kurus dan ingin menambah berat badan tanpa membuat anda gemuk.

Dan sebaliknya, kentang juga bisa digunakan sebagai pengukur kalori yang akan anda buang ketika Anda sedang merencanakan program diet.




Memerangi penyakit
Karena banyak mengandung serat, kentang sangat ramah dengan sistem pencernaan sehingga mencegah masalah terjadi pada bagian sistem pencernaan.

Kentang juga membantu dalam mengurangi risiko kanker dan penelitian juga mendapatkan jika kentang dapat melawan kanker dengan baik.


Baik untuk penderita diabetes
Penderita diabetes sangat butuh akan kadar gula darah. Kentang merupakan makanan yang dapat meningkatkan kadar gula darah dan dari penelitian yang sudah dilakukan tidak terdapat efek samping terhadap penderita diabetes.




Untuk perawatan kulit

Kentang banyak mengandung vitamin C yang sangat baik untuk tubuh terutama kulit wajah. Menggosok jus kentang atau digunakan sebagai masker pada bagian wajah membuat wajah Anda cantik dan bersinar.

Jika irisan kentang ditempelkan pada kamata selama kurang lebih 30 menit dapat berkhasiat menghilangkan pembengkakan dan lingkaran gelap di bawah mata.

Baik untuk otak
Kentang dapat mendukung kesehatan Anda dalam melakukan aktivitas sehari-hari. Kentang merupakan sumber zat besi dan zink yang juga baik untuk otak.










Mengurangi peradangan
Sementara beberapa studi menyebutkan bahwa kentang menyebabkan peradangan, organisasi Arthritis Foundation justu menyarankan penderita radang untuk mengonsumsi kentang.

Studi ini menemukan bahwa kentang dapat mengurangi peradangan dalam dua minggu. Pendapat ini juga dikuatkan dalam sebuah studi tahun 2011 yang dipublikasikan dalam Journal of  Nutrition.

Begitu juga jika Anda sedang mengalami peradangan baik radang bagian dalam atau luar ambillah kentang untuk dimakan. Kentang mempunyai tekstur yang halus dan lembut sehingga mudah dicerna dan dapat mengurangi peradangan pada usus dan sistem pencernaan. Kentang juga dapat mengurangi peradangan bagian luar dengan cara menggosoknya. Kentang juga baik untuk penderita bisul di mulut.



Mengatasi memar

Kentang kaya akan kalium yang membantu menurunkan tekanan darah. Sayuran ini juga mengandung zat kimia yang disebut kukoamines, yang juga dapat membantu menurunkan tekanan darah. Tak hanya itu, serat yang ditemukan dalam kentang dapat mengikat kolesterol dalam darah.





Menjaga kesehatan otak dan sistem saraf

Vitamin B6 yang terkandung dalam kentang sangat penting untuk menjaga kesehatan saraf, yakni dengan menciptakan zat kimia otak, termasuk serotonin, dopamin, dan norepinephrine.

Dengan kata lain, mengkonsumsi kentang akan membatu mengurunkan depresi dan stres. Di lain pihak, karbohidrat di dalam kentang dapat mempertahankan tingkat glukosa yang diperlukan untuk menjaga kinerja otak.


Menjaga kekebalan tubuh
Kentang mengandung vitamin C yang berguna untuk menjaga kekebalan tubuh. Komisi Kentang Kota Washington mengatakan mengkonsumsi kentang secara teratur akan menjaga tubuh dari serangan flu dan penyakit kudis.

Serat yang tinggi membuat kentang menjadi salah satu sayuran yang baik untuk pencernaan. Tak hanya itu, kandungan tinggi karbohidrat dalam kentang juga membuat sayuran ini mudah dicerna sehingga tidak menambah beban kerja sistem pencernaan kita.
