Bakteri dan Virus pada Tanaman Hortikultura Jenis, Gejala dan Cara Pengendalian - Tanaman hortikultura  seperti sayuran, buah-buahan, dan tanaman hias merupakan komoditas penting dalam sektor pertanian. Namun, produktivitas tanaman-tanaman ini sering menurun akibat serangan bakteri dan virus yang menyebabkan penyakit serius.

Berbeda dengan serangga atau jamur yang dapat dikendalikan secara fisik, penyakit akibat bakteri dan virus pada tanaman hortikultura lebih sulit dikendalikan karena bersifat mikroskopis dan menular dengan cepat.

Oleh karena itu, petani perlu memahami jenis-jenis penyakit ini, gejala yang muncul, dan strategi pencegahannya agar tanaman tetap sehat dan produktif.

1. Apa Itu Penyakit Bakteri dan Virus pada Tanaman Hortikultura?

Penyakit tanaman yang disebabkan oleh bakteri dan virus termasuk kategori penyakit sistemik, yaitu menyerang jaringan tanaman dari dalam dan dapat mempengaruhi seluruh bagian tanaman.

a. Penyakit Bakteri pada Tanaman

Bakteri penyebab penyakit tanaman biasanya masuk melalui luka, mulut daun (stomata), atau air irigasi yang tercemar. Setelah masuk, bakteri berkembang biak dan menyebabkan pembusukan, layu, atau bercak pada daun dan buah.

b. Penyakit Virus pada Tanaman

Virus tidak bisa hidup mandiri dan memerlukan sel inang (tanaman) untuk berkembang biak. Penyakit akibat virus sering kali ditularkan oleh serangga vektor, seperti kutu daun (Aphididae) dan thrips.

a. Layu Bakteri (Bacterial Wilt)

  • Penyebab: Ralstonia solanacearum
  • Tanaman rentan: Tomat, cabai, terong, kentang.
  • Gejala: Tanaman tiba-tiba layu pada siang hari, daun menggulung, batang mengeluarkan lendir putih kekuningan saat dipotong.
  • Pencegahan:

Gunakan varietas tahan layu.

Lakukan rotasi tanaman dengan jenis non-inang (jagung, kacang-kacangan).

Gunakan pupuk organik untuk meningkatkan daya tahan tanaman.

b. Busuk Buah Bakteri (Bacterial Fruit Rot)

  • Penyebab: Erwinia carotovora
  • Tanaman rentan: Cabai, tomat, mentimun, melon.
  • Gejala: Buah menjadi lembek, mengeluarkan bau busuk, dan membusuk cepat.
  • Pencegahan:

Hindari penyiraman berlebihan.

Gunakan pestisida nabati dari daun sirih atau bawang putih.

Panen buah segera saat matang fisiologis untuk mencegah infeksi lanjut.

c. Bercak Daun Bakteri (Bacterial Leaf Spot)

  • Penyebab: Xanthomonas campestris
  • Tanaman rentan: Cabai, tomat, sawi, kol.
  • Gejala: Muncul bercak cokelat kecil di daun, menyebar dan menyebabkan daun rontok.
  • Pencegahan:

Semprot larutan air jeruk nipis dan bawang putih sebagai disinfektan alami.

Gunakan benih sehat dan bersertifikat.

Hindari kelembapan berlebih di lahan.

3. Jenis-Jenis Penyakit Virus pada Tanaman Hortikultura

a. Virus Daun Keriting (Leaf Curl Virus)

  • Penyebab: Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV)
  • Tanaman rentan: Tomat, cabai, terong.
  • Gejala: Daun menggulung ke atas, pertumbuhan terhambat, bunga rontok, dan buah kecil.
  • Penularan: Melalui kutu kebul (Bemisia tabaci).
  • Pencegahan:

Gunakan jaring pelindung serangga.

Tanam bunga marigold di sekitar lahan untuk mengusir vektor alami.

Gunakan varietas tahan virus seperti Inpari 35 atau hibrida unggul hortikultura.

b. Virus Mosaik (Mosaic Virus)

  • Penyebab: Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) dan Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV).
  • Tanaman rentan: Cabai, mentimun, terung, tembakau.
  • Gejala: Daun memiliki pola bercak kuning-hijau seperti mozaik, pertumbuhan kerdil.
  • Pencegahan:

Gunakan benih bebas virus.

Hindari menyentuh tanaman sehat setelah memegang tanaman terinfeksi.

Bersihkan alat pertanian secara rutin dengan air sabun.

c. Virus Tungro pada Padi Hortikultura (jika ditanam bersama sayuran padi-field)

  • Penyebab: Rice tungro bacilliform virus (RTBV) dan Rice tungro spherical virus (RTSV).
  • Vektor: Wereng hijau (Nephotettix virescens).
  • Pencegahan:

Lakukan tanam serentak untuk memutus siklus virus.

Gunakan perangkap kuning untuk mengontrol wereng.

  • Gunakan bakteri antagonis seperti Bacillus subtilis dan Pseudomonas fluorescens yang dapat menekan pertumbuhan bakteri patogen.
